My recent art work

I've been experimenting with making art blindfolded. It's all done by touch: drawing, ripping, collaging, drawing again. Lovely layering. Great way to cease being at all precious about work.

This third one was mostly blindfold but I consciously added paint at the end.

Then, having freed up, I went back to colour and acrylic paint and this emerged.
These works and more to be shown at my solo exhibition, called TOUCH, at Creek Creative, Faversham from 22nd October-3rd November.

Wet Walk around my Village (Chartham, Kent)

Continuing this series on walks in my environs.... Appreciating the past & present of where I live. Today was the turn of the OAK & the WILLOW, buildings, the river and the rain!

Looking across rain soaked fields past an oak towards the chimneys of the paper mill.

Artichoke Inn, 15th century. Has an indoor well.

Chartham Paper Mill. where specialist tracing paper is made. One of 2 mills worldwide that make this paper. A mill has been on this site since 1086, mentioned in the Domesday Book.

The River Stour leads into Canterbury. There is a 3 mile path alongside it for walkers & cyclists.

Known as Tumbling Bay where the river created by the Mill owner meets the original river. A favourite swimming haunt with local daredevils!
Willow with storm damage littering the grass.

St Mary's Church. Constructed around 1285 is Grade 1 listed.Made of knapped flint, it has one of the oldest brasses in the whole country

The Green; many Grade II listed buildings are here.

Swollen River Stour and graceful willow

What is the history of where you live? Where do the paths lead? What trees mark the way?
